Why Zoysia Thrives in Brevard County

Perfectly adapted to Melbourne's coastal environment, Zoysia handles the salty air of beachside properties and the sandy soils of Palm Bay with ease. Its deep, dense root system survives the dry spring months with minimal irrigation and thrives during our heavy summer rains, providing year-round resilience.

Drought Tolerant

Deep root systems allow Zoysia to thrive with minimal irrigation, significantly reducing your monthly water bill while staying green.

Weed Resistant

The exceptionally dense growth habit naturally prevents weed seeds from reaching the soil and establishing in your lawn.

Pest Resilient

Naturally highly resistant to common Florida lawn pests, including chinch bugs, reducing the need for harsh chemical treatments.

Barefoot Soft

Fine to medium blades create a luxurious, barefoot-soft surface that is perfect for families, pets, and outdoor living spaces.

Care & Maintenance Guide

Follow these simple guidelines to keep your Zoysia lawn looking like a pristine golf course year-round.

01

Mowing Practices

Maintain a height of 1.5 to 2.5 inches. Mow weekly during the active summer growing season using a sharp rotary or reel mower to prevent tearing the fine blades. Never remove more than 1/3 of the leaf blade in a single mowing.

02

Watering Schedule

Apply ½ to ¾ inches of water per application. Zoysia prefers deep, infrequent watering. Only irrigate when the grass shows signs of wilt (blades folding or footprints remaining visible). Overwatering can lead to shallow roots and disease.

03

Fertilization

Zoysia requires significantly less nitrogen than St. Augustine. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer 2-3 times per year (Spring and early Fall). Avoid heavy nitrogen applications during peak summer heat to prevent thatch buildup.
